The stable flight characteristics of the government-designed Royal Aircraft Factory BE2c made it an ideal home-defence night-fighter aircraft.
It famously claimed the destruction of the first German airship over Britain on 3rd September 1916, earning pilot Lt. William Leefe Robinson a Victoria Cross.
