This is an Airfix model kit of the famous and ground breaking Gloster Meteor. The Meteor was the first British jet fighter and the only Allied jet aircraft to achieve combat operations during the Second World War.
The Meteor first flew in 1943 and entered service with 616 Squadron in 1944. The Meteor set the first official air speed record for a jet aircraft and went on to break other performance records including flight time and rate of climb. The first model was the F.1 but the Meteor was constantly being developed and improved.
This model kit allows you to build the F.8 variant of the Gloster Meteor. The F.8 was a redesigned upgraded Meteor with better performance that broke the speed record set by the previous Meteor. The F.8 formed the bulk of RAF fighter command from 1950 to 1955.
So if you are looking to build a model of a jet aircraft with a bit of history, the Gloster Meteor should be high on your list.
