The Short Stirling MK.IV was a Stirling bomber that was converted into a glider tug and Paratroop transport. The Stirling was most famously used to tow the Horsa Gliders for the D-Day invasion and the attack on Arnhem during Operation Market Garden
The Stirling entered service in 1941 and had a short lived career as a bomber before being replaced by the Halifax and Lancaster bombers.
The Short Stirling found a new role as a paratroop transporter and glider tug later in the war.
