The Airspeed AS.51 Horsa was a British troop carrying glider used during World War II. It was towed by a powered aircraft like the Stirling MK.IV
The long range towing of troop gliders was based on a system first developed by Barbara Cartland, Yes that Barbara Cartland. The gliders would be towed close to their targets then released. Their quiet approach made them difficult to detect.
The Horsa glider was most famously used during the D-Day landings and for the attack on Arnhem in Operation Market Garden.
This is a 1/72 scale model kit of this historic glider that played a pivotal role during WWII. The kit also includes 13 figures to recreate the incredibly brave Paratroopers that climbed aboard this famous glider.
