Developed by Toyota Gazoo Racing, the TS050 Hybrid is a sports prototype car with carbon fiber monocoque and closed cockpit body. Its hybrid powertrain employs a midship 2.4-liter twin turbo direct injection V6, a high-powered lithium-ion battery, and Motor Generator Units (MGUs) on front and rear axles.

Its superior performance and reliability brought great results in 2018. Toyota finished 1^st and 2^nd in the 6 hour Spa-Francorchamps and became the second Japanese manufacturer to win the 24 Hour Le Mans with another 1^st and 2^nd place finish.

Tamiya have made a detailed model kit of the car which wrote a new page in Japanese motorsports history.
