This is a detailed die-cast model of the #1 car of Ken Miles and Denny Hulme as it looked when it crossed the line in 1966. The model has the dirt and grime effect from the 24 hours of racing.

The 1966 Le Mans race is a controversial race. Ford became determined to beat Ferrari at Le Mans so hired the legend Carol Shelby to build a car and team capable of finally stopping the Ferrari dominance.

Shelby brought in Ken Miles to help develop and then drive the Ferrari beating GT40. The GT40 dominated the 1966 Le Mans but had a controversial finish. Ken Miles was in a comfortable 1st place when Ford insisted that he slows down so they can have all their cars cross the line together as it would be good for the press.

Due to this decision 1 of the greatest race drivers in history was denied the victory at the 66 Le Mans. The win would have made him the 1st person to win Daytona, Sebring and Le Mans in the same year.
