Arguably the most famous bomber of The Second World War, the Lancaster entered service in 1942 and became the principal heavy bomber of the RAF.
This is a model of the B.II variant of the Lancaster. The Avro Lancaster was powered by 4 Rolls Royce Merlin engines but due to concerns over shortages The B.II was made using 4 Bristol Hercules Radial engines. With its Hercules engines the B.II could climb faster and the engines could soak up more damage than the Merlin engines but the B.II had a lower service ceiling.
If you are looking to build a model of an aviation icon you can't do much better than the Avro Lancaster.
